AYSO VIP Program provides a quality soccer experience for children - and adults - whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams. VIP teams may include those who are:
These children are Very Important Players (VIP) in AYSO. We recognize that all children need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. The VIP program offers that acceptance and carries our philosophy of Everyone Plays® to new heights - giving everyone a chance to play. Children with special needs are estimated to make up approximately 10% of the school-age population. Special schools and classrooms can isolate these children so the VIP Program has been structured to integrate our special children into the rest of AYSO by using "Buddies" from non-VIP teams to help these players both on and off the field. Our goals for every participating player are:
As with all AYSO teams in Region 96 VIP teams are balanced with players rated by size, level of mobility/agility and age. Where appropriate older and younger players will form their own playing divisions. Region 96's playing structure is a jamboree style. The first part of the session is devoted to skills training. The second half of a session we divide the players up into teams and have a match with referees. At the end we provide snacks and say see you all next week!
Please plan on helping your child's team/organization. AYSO is a volunteer run organization and everyone is expected to lend a hand to make each season a success. You will be asked to volunteer in some way at time of registration - it is for the benefit of your child(ren).
