The AYSO VIP Program provides a unique and quality soccer experience for children - and adults - whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams. VIP teams may include those who are:
Blind or visually impaired
Amputees or conditions that impair mobility
Mentally or emotionally challenged
These children and adults are Very Important Players (VIP) in AYSO. We recognize that all persons need to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. The VIP program offers that acceptance and carries our philosophy of Everyone Plays® to new heights - giving everyone a chance to play. For more information about the VIP program in Tustin contact our VIP Director Tim Curry at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tustin AYSO's VIP Program integrates our special players into the rest of AYSO and the soccer community by using "Buddies" from non-VIP teams to help these players both on and off the field. Our goals for every participating player are to:
VIP seasons are offered in Fall and Spring. Region 96's playing structure is a jamboree style, and all players receive uniforms. VIP coaches, players and buddies typically meet on Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm at Tustin Sports Park. The first part of the session is devoted to skills training. In the second half of a session, players and buddies are divided into teams and play matches. We finish by taking shots on goal. At the end of the game, we provide snacks and say, "See you all next week!"
But the fun isn't limited to Tustin. The Tustin VIPERS (as they're known) attend tournaments where they play against VIP teams from other regions!
