Under-10's to Under-14's
November 15 to 23, 2014
The Mayor's Cup tournament is an annual event to determine the Tustin AYSO regional champion who advances to compete with the other five regions in Area Q. This single elimination tournament for divisions under-10 through under-14 is seeded from the results of the regular season. Please note that referee points count toward this seeding. All Tustin teams in U10-U14 are entered into the tournament. Teams from other regions who combined with us for the Fall season are not eligible as this tournament is to determine the Tustin AYSO champion. The Mayor's Cup advances Tustin's best performing team at the end of the season, and as such teams that started slow and improved (but ended up below the top few in the final standings) often do well in this tournament.
All games are played under standard rules for Tustin AYSO with the below changes.
First round matches are scheduled to begin Saturday, November 15, 2014.
All championship matches are scheduled for Sunday, November 23, 2014.
The schedules are posted on this website and can be viewed online through the schedule link to the right or on the bracket pages available below. Please continue to report your score in the schedule. We use the postings to advance your team to the next game.
These brackets are provided for your convenience, should any conflict exist between the pdf printed brackets and the online schedule, the online schedule takes precedence.
All matches for all divisions are single elimination.
If there is tie at the end of regulation all matches except the championship matches will go immediately to FIFA Kicks From The Penalty Mark (aka penalty kicks) to determine a winner. Please remember that only those players remaining on the field at end of regulation can take part in the kicks to determine a winner.
Championship matches will play two full 5-minute extra time periods (not sudden victory). If there is still no winner after extra time then the match will go to FIFA Kicks From The Penalty Mark (aka penalty kicks).
Minimum playing time for the Mayor's Cup is 3 quarters as part of the published region policy: Playing Time in Tustin AYSO. A reminder for U14 teams having 15 players: No player may sit 2 quarters in a game until all players have sat two quarters during the season. Hence, since the total number of games will not exceed 15, no player should have to sit out 2 quarters more than one game this year (regular season and mayor's cup combined).
Each player on the 1st and 2nd place teams will receive a medal, and a (one) trophy is presented to the team.
The finalists (1st and 2nd place) in each division will advance to the Area Q playoffs. The Area Q playoffs are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 6 & 7, 2014. Please note that schedules may change. The champion of the Area Q tournament will represent Area Q in the Section 11 Championships in February or March, currently scheduled on Feb 7-8, 2015 at the Chapman Sports Complex in Garden Grove. The Section 11 Champions advance to the California State Championships typically played in March (Currently scheduled on March 14-15, 2015 at State Farm Sports Village in Bakersfield).
Any and all decisions of a tournament director and/or the regional commissioner are final. This may include the automatic promotion of the higher seeded team if games are canceled for any reason and rescheduling is not possible.
